The work, duties and powers of the Transport Management Committee shall be as follows:-
(a) To engage public vehicles in the operation of transport services in order to operate the transport services running within their area.
(b) If it is necessary to establish a road for some time and operate a transport service in a place where the road is not established within his area, recommend to the department to establish a temporary road and determine the fare of public vehicles running on that road.
(c) To inspect or cause to be done whether the public vehicles are operating transport services with a road license within their territory, whether they have renewed it from time to time.
(d) To inspect or cause to be inspected from time to time whether the public vehicles plying within his area have passed the inspection from time to time and whether they have provided regular transport services subject to this Act or the rules made under this Act.
(e) After studying the passenger traffic and the number of vehicles etc. in his area, if he finds it necessary to operate the transport service in any place, recommend to the department to determine the route in that area.
(f) To carry out other necessary work to operate the transport service in an orderly manner within his area.
